The picture to the right is of Alida Chamberlain (maiden
name? married name?). It was taken on Tuesday, October 22, 1912
in Grafton, Ontario by Edna (Thorne) VanHorne. Until we find where it should
be placed on this website, it will remain here.
Any help?
Edna Van Horne (nee Thorne) writes in her 1912 Travel

"Tues 22 Writing on train.
Aunt B called us 5.15 had breakfast & took 6.25 train for Toronto.
Stopped off at Grafton. Walked up to the house & Aunt Nancy came to
the door. Ralph held out his hand and said "I don’t suppose you
know who I am & she said "No I don’t know you." R said
"I am R VH and she said "No Never R VH. She acted as if her
mind was rather blank & did not seem to understand who I was at all.
We got to the house 8.30. Aunt Alida was working most of the time. for
dinner we had fried steak creamed potatoes cabbage cucumber & tomato

Norvel took us up to the English Church & R had a chat with the
minister. After dinner I helped Aunt N. with dishes & Aunt L.
finished up then I took pictures of them. Aunt N & R played cards.
We had pears bread & butter cheese and bottom cake for tea. went in
stages to train which left 7 oc. before leaving I handed Aunt A an
envelope & R one to A. N. & we told them to read them when we
had gone (each 12)"
